UNSW | Postgraduate Course Launch

UNSW | Postgraduate Course Launch

In 2018, the UNSW Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) planned to launch a Masters of Health Data Science (MSc HDS), which was the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. They were seeking support to position CBDRH as the trusted Australian authority on health data science and attract high quality students already in the health sector.

Approach

STEM Matters created content designed to position CBDRH as the Australian leader in essential, ethical and practical big data research around health and optimise awareness of the innovative MSc HDS with potential students, their key influencers and employers.

We interviewed relevant researchers to understand why the Centre had been established and its point of difference. In addition, we reviewed the media landscape to understand the type of content that already existed, and which of those stories resonated with their target audiences.

From these interviews we identified and created stories that positioned CBDRH as the Australian leader in essential, ethical and practical big data research around health.

Outcomes

Our editorial team created a suite of evergreen content that can be used to continue to promote the course in the long term, along with researcher profiles that reflect the quality of their research.

Achievements

  • Ambitious student recruitment targets achieved.
