Bill Condie

Editorial Director

Bill Condie has been a journalist for more than 30 years, working as a writer and editor in Europe, Asia and Australia for newspapers including The Guardian, The Observer and The Times. For the past eight years he has focused on STEM as publisher of Cosmos Magazine and Head of Publishing at The Royal Institution.


Liza-Jayne Loch

Liza-Jayne brings almost three decades of experience in helping organisations, causes and individuals successfully grow their profiles. Her on-going involvement at the highest levels of media and government as well as her extensive network of contacts combine to provide a powerful positioning channel for STEM Matters’ clients.

Vanessa is an experienced science communicator and project manager with extensive strategic and operational experience in government, education, museums and universities in Australia, New Zealand, China and the UK.

AJ has worked with science organisations across the country to develop communication and audience engagement plans using innovative storytelling, public engagement and strategic positioning. AJ has experience building the profile of national science prizes and managing media programs for international science conferences.


John Pickrell

Senior Editor

John Pickrell is an award-winning writer, author and editor, with nearly two decades experience. He has worked in the US, UK and Australia for publications including Science, Cosmos, Australian Geographic, Science News and New Scientist.


Nick Carne

Senior Editor

Nick has spent 40 years in media and communications roles, initially as a reporter, editor and decision-maker in newspapers, TV and radio and then as a government media advisor and PR consultant. As well as working for STEM Matters, he is a writer and sub-editor for Cosmos magazine.


Sara Callaghan

Sara has worked across media organisations over the last three decades. She has overseen the growth of several profitable businesses, achieved by developing strategy and direction, utilising an open and hands on management style as well as focusing on exceptional customer service.
